Property description
Accommodation
St Lucia Wilds is situated in the main street away from the busy town centre, but still within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Units are set in a natural tranquil garden on the banks of Lake St Lucia, with an abundance of birds. Squirrels, insects, red duiker, small reptilians, reed buck and bushbuck also visit and hippo graze in the garden overlooking the estuarine lake, from time to time.
St Lucia Wilds offers fully equipped self-catering holiday accommodation. You are invited to stay in our comfortable, no-nonsense, clean and neat units. We offer joined chalets and affordable (budget type) units. We cater for single travellers, couples, families, small groups, self-drive visitors and backpackers, especially nature enthusiasts.
All units have access to the lake via a communal path through the garden, the units have no view of the lake. We welcome you to enjoy the front garden view of the Estuary and watch the many birds in the garden or just relax on a lounger chair in the cool breeze under the trees or drink a “sundowner” while you watch the sun set over the lake. You are welcome to relax and cool down in our swimming pool on the lake side.
St Lucia Wilds is privately owned and the family lives on the property. They are always ready to give information and share their passion for this environment, part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park - World Heritage Site from the Zebras to the Mangroves to the beetles. We are Birder Friendly Establishment.
Our Chalets
We offer 3 adjoining chalets, ground level, 1 or 2 bedrooms per unit, own bathroom and open plan kitchen-dining-lounge area. The building is face brick walls inside and out, ceramic tiled floors, carpets in bedrooms and extra high pine ceilings. One bedroom has an aircon and every other room a pedestal fan. All opening windows and doors have gauze protection. There is a backdoor and patio sliding door in lounge onto own garden area with braai (bbq) patch of grass and garden furniture separated by plants.
Bathroom has bath and separate shower. Dining area has dining table and chairs, lounge have chairs and 2 single beds.
These are non-smoking units and wheelchair accessible. Sleep max 4 or 6 persons per unit.
- All Chalets are equipped as follows:
- Beds with bedding and bath towels
- Cutlery, crockery, pot & pans and cooking utensils
- Stove (with oven), microwave
- Fridge and separate chest freezer
- Toaster, Kettle and coffee plunger
- Dishtowel and dishcloth
- Television (DSTV Hotel package)
- 1 parking bay per unit (under roof cover)
- Units are services once daily (incl. dishwashing)
Our Affordable Flats
We offer 2 budget type units. These are part of the original house converted into 3 units. Each unit has own entrance with 6 steps to the door, bathroom, kitchen and one bedroom. Ceiling fans in bedrooms and other pedestal fans.
Flat 4: Bathroom with sunken bath and separate shower. Small kitchen. 4 Single beds in the bedroom.
Flat 5: Bathroom with shower only. 1 Double bed and 2 single bunker beds in bedroom and 2 single stack beds in lounge. Next to swimming pool and view of the lake.
Flats are equipped as follows:

- Plug in Stove (with oven), microwave
- Combination Fridge
- Toaster and Kettle

We will provide as much information as possible so that you can experience and see this extraordinary, still wild, natural environment around us that we share with nature on our doorstep.
St Lucia offers activities for all ages, the fit and the brave.

- Bicycle tours (around St Lucia bring own or rent, guided or self)

- Deep- Sea Ocean adventure (for 1st timers) 2 hours, sea mammals – shipwreck
- Fishing – Surf, Rock, Lake, Fly anyway as long as you have a licence
- Hiking & walking trails ( self-guided or guided, 20 min to a few days)
- Game Watching (2 reserves 1 park within 100km - guided or self-drive)
- Horse Safaris – from 2 hour beach/bush or a few days safari in the wetlands
- Kayaking on lake St Lucia (only guided)

Policies & disclaimers
Booking and Contact Information
1.Request availability with date arriving and date departing as well how many persons (including babies and children).
2.Make booking and pay part payment deposit as requested. Confirmation of booking will only happen when deposit is paid.
3.Methods of deposit payment: Electronic (Internet) payment or direct bank deposit, cash or cheque into my account.
4.Full outstanding balance is payable on arrival - NO Cheques or Credit
Cards Accepted. Internet banking may be done on premises for payment.
5.International guests must please complete the credit card details
document (you may complete the form with half details an later the
other half) as confirmation of booking. Payment will be required in
full on arrival (No credit cards accepted)
6.R100 key and breakage deposit is also required on arrival and will be
refunded after departure as agreed (by electronic transfer or mail). No
exceptions.
Day Visitors
On request only for the duration of a “meal”. Your visitors may not use my amenities (swim pool, shower, parking area, and fishing at lake) or stay overnight.
Pets
None allowed. Kindly note that this is a nature conservation area and your pets cannot go with you into any of the reserves or parks. You will be denied access to the premises and forfeit your deposit if you bring your pets.
General Terms and Conditions
- A booking (verbal or written) constitutes a binding lawful contract for the number of persons and nights booked.
- No persons other than those quoted for are permitted to share accommodation facilities and amenities.
- Children are counted as part of persons per unit and are paid for not free.
- Accommodation will automatically be cancelled if deposit or credit card authorisation form is not received by due date.
- All units are non-smoking as required by law
- No full day or over-night visitors are allowed.
- The following will not be allowed on the premises: plastic wheel bikes/trikes, skateboards, noisy toys, quad bikes, motorcycles at the units, ketties, guns, any type of fireworks or crackers, loud drunken behaviour, littering in our garden.
Cancellation Policy
31 days and longer before arrival date - full refund less R30.00 admin fee
16-30 days before arrival - 50% of deposit received
15 days and less before arrival - NO REFUND *
No Arrival – No Refund Early Departure – No Refund Arrive with Pets – No Refund
*(A Refund will be considered when the period cancelled was filled again. The refund will be calculated pro-rata for days filled, less R30.00 admin fee. Payment will happen at the end of each month.)
